Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman announced the 98th Academy Awards nominations this evening, with recognition clearly favoring two films. Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” and Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another” received the most acknowledgment.
The favoring of both films by Academy voters manifested through comprehensive nomination lists. “Sinners” received favored recognition in directing, cinematography, production design, sound design, and multiple acting categories. The breadth of acknowledgment validates Coogler’s artistic vision.
“One Battle After Another” enjoyed similarly favored treatment with nominations across major categories. Anderson’s direction and the adapted screenplay earned recognition, while ensemble performances from Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor secured acting nominations.
Beyond these favored films, other works earned Academy recognition. “Marty Supreme” secured nominations for directing, acting, and technical achievements. “Hamnet” and “Sentimental Value” also found success. However, “Homebound” received no favored treatment, earning zero nominations.
The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles hosts the 98th Academy Awards on March 15. The ceremony will air at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, where favored nominees will compete for cinema’s highest honors.
