Tesla Roadster Prototype Showcased with SpaceX Rocket Thrusters for Potential Flying Car

by admin477351

Elon Musk has taken a bold step in integrating rocket technology with automotive innovation by unveiling a prototype of the Tesla Roadster 2 equipped with SpaceX-developed thrusters. Demonstrated in Texas, this electric sports car showcased its ability to execute aerial maneuvers. During the demonstration, the Roadster ascended a curved ramp and utilized its thrusters to perform complex aerial rolls before landing safely.

Musk described this prototype as a potential flying car, highlighting its ability to maneuver using altitude controls and thrusters mounted at the rear. While the demonstration was conducted remotely to mitigate safety risks, Musk admitted that such a vehicle might face legal challenges in certain jurisdictions.

Production of the Tesla Roadster 2 is slated for 2028, with an anticipated price tag exceeding $200,000. Tesla plans to offer multiple versions of the vehicle, including a high-performance model and a specialized variant featuring the thrust system. Additionally, a proposed single-seat rocket version, which would incorporate a full flight system, is expected to be available exclusively through invitation.

The company emphasized that the flying capabilities of the Roadster are not intended for use on public roads, reflecting ongoing considerations regarding the practical application, safety standards, and regulatory approval required for such technology. This demonstration underscores Musk’s vision of merging electric vehicle advancements with rocket propulsion, although the journey toward practical implementation remains complex.
